Jason Sullivan of Midwest Haunts finally has cleared up my lingering doubt about ghosts. He is the first Ghost Hunter I’ve heard define a ghost.
His definition is at 3:17 and is this: “When a person dies, they turn into a new form of energy.”
That’s it, no citation, no support, no evidence, and no facts. Just a statement.
I could say “When a person dies, they turn into a marshmallow” and have just as much factual support for that statement as he does for his “energy”.
In his other videos, and briefly in a fade-out in this one, he mentions using scientific method. He clearly has no idea what scientific method is. What it isn’t is making a random statement with no support or research or data to back it up, then treating that statement as fact.
I want to teach this guy a lesson using my tool: Logic.
Logic, of course, is my baseball bat with the word “Logic” scrawled on it in sharpie.
Really, it’s the only way to get anything through his thick skull.
Here is the link to his blog.
Here is his video of stupid:
Just to give a competing view, here is a blog post explaining the three types of hauntings:
1. Residual Haunting
The first variety strongly resembles a video of a tragic or a historic event….The event is simply an imprint, recorded and stored by some of the things or materials in the building or in the area. Whenever the conditions are suitable, the incident is replayed….
2. Interactive Haunting
In the second variety of haunting, you are haunted by a real ghost or spirit who wants to capture your attention for some reason….Usually, this is the soul or spirit of a dead person. They might be earthbound and unable to make it to the higher realms because they either have some job to be done or are too attached to the house and the locality or are afraid to move on or are guilty about something…
3. Demoniac Haunting
This variety of haunting is far from rare; however, demons and other non-human astral entities hardly interact with those who are alive. The Bible has made a mention of them. Only very highly qualified and trained ghost hunters can deal with this variety of haunting. These entities are evil and can do a lot of harm….
I envy the freedom that Ghost Hunters have. They are unencumbered by facts, science, reason or logic. They must feel so gloriously free. It’s truly a beautiful ignorance.

But did he say “Theory”? There is nothing wrong with that, he didn’t state it as fact. I think it was pretty good, better then most I’ve seen.
