Ghosts Aren't Real

Kids’ Ghosts in Austrailia

January 20th, 2010

Another ghost tour and another ghost photo making the rounds of the press. You would think they would have learned their lesson from the Sexy Ghost Hoax, but no.  Instead of two ghost cans, we have two ghost kids.

Kid’s ghosts ‘haunt’ St Mark’s cemetery in Picton

The family who took this picture while on a Picton ghost tour swear there were no children inside the St Mark’s Cemetery south of Sydney, the Daily Telegraph reports….

Local legend has it that the two children are David Shaw and Blanche Moon, who died 60 years apart….Renee English, the woman behind the lens of this mysterious photo, said she was “a sceptic” before undertaking the ghost tour on January 9….

“I know that when I took that photo there was no one else in the cemetery.”

Yeah, and there was no hot chick on the other ghost tour too, that is until the photographer admitted to making up the story. And the guy running the ghost tour half-admitted to publishing the story knowing it was false.

Here is the cropped and enlarged photo that is running in most of the stories:

The photo was taken on a ghost tour, the person who runs the ghost tour is quoted in the story as saying,

“We find people always love to see their photos afterwards because most of these things aren’t visible to the naked eye.”

That’s pretty damn amazing considering cameras have lower resolution than the human eye and basically work exactly the same as the human eye. To be honest, I don’t think she really is all that intrigued by tourists’ cameras. She’s more into their wallets.

The nice thing about this story is that the comments on the site are overwhelmingly critical. It’s a nice change from what I normally see. Sadly, no one seems to have noticed the punctuation error in their headline.

Here is the full photo, with helpful circles:

I heard those red circles weren’t in the cemetery at the time of the photo either.

I honestly can’t decide if this is better or worse than orb photos. On the one hand, at least it’s clearly people and not dust. On the other hand, IT’S CLEARLY PEOPLE.

UPDATE: Here is the story on another Austrialian news site. Note that the lead says “pair of ghostly children”. They don’t look the least bit ghostly. They’re just kids walking.

They really stand out to me for some reason, almost like they were photoshopped in. o.o

It’s really hard to tell when you’re dealing with a screen resolution image that was probably knocked down in quality for the web. But, to me they just look like two kids in the scene. I don’t think it was photoshopped (though that’s certainly possible). I think the woman is just lying.

Isn’t one of them supposed to be a girl?

Why are they both wearing white shirts and black shorts if one’s a girl who died in the 1880s?

Did all those young ghosts running around in gangs ruin it for the rest of the ghost kids and now they have to wear ghost uniforms that their ghost parents pick up at the approved ghost shopping outlets?

And the ghost girls have to wear ghost pants after ghost perverts kept snapping pictures up their ghost skirts?

Are ‘ghost orbs’ really just spectral fratboys flashing their ectoplasmic junk at the camera?
